(MAN)icure

Manicures are often a time to relax, a time to refresh the limb that extends to connect us for major deals, commitments and gestures of love, through our hands.  Manicures are not just for women; men, you can get a manicure with or without clear polish.  The word manicure derived from the Latin word manus, which means hands and cura means care.  Some men may believe that having a manicure is not “manly”, but I believe manicures are an essential step in the dapper life.  As a woman, I like a man whose hands are cared for and not rough and dry. I look to see if his hands are dirty, does he bite his nails and especially if they have calluses. I for one do not want to be rubbed by the “brilo pad” hands. Manicures are roughly $12 or can be done at home by yourself or ask your special lady friend to assist you.  If you are the dapper man that is a do-it-yourselfer, these are the steps and products you will need to ensure you rub her the right way:

Steps For a Dry Manicure
Start with clean hands!
1.) Use the nail file in the Brooks Brothers Large Manicure Set (1) to file your nails down, making sure the corners of your nails are rounded as well. If there are any hangnails, use the "nippers" nail cleaning implement with the spring to remove that hard dead skin.
2.)   Follow the directions of the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover (2) using the double sides cuticle stick to push back your cuticles (in the kit).
3.)   Take a very small amount of the True Blue 60 Minute Hand Scrub (3) rubbing it around your cuticles and over your hands, gently massaging, then add a little water creating lather. Rinse off.
4.)   If you have calluses, use the Mr. Pumice (5) on those areas while the scrub is on your hands.  Make sure you wet the Mr. Pumice before using.
5.)   Rub some Dior Cuticle Cream (6) around your cuticles. If you remember to do this one step everyday, those ugly, dry cuticles and hangnails will be gone!
6.)   Swipe one coat of the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails (4) over your nails and your done. One week later repeat, steps 1-6 and be dapper!
Shake Hands with Confidence and show that you handle your business with care as you do your nails!

It's a "Snow Day" in Michigan, but some men are still checking into the office today.  I suggest this look brightening the day with the yellow belt along with this camo cardigan, which is not just for street wear.  I love bow ties and it pairs well with the camo. Men can carry all their papers, iPad and other documents in this classic green satchel.

Here in Michigan, we were hit with some serious snow! Schools are closed, work commute is delayed and some have taken a leave of absence for the day.  For the men who stayed home to shovel, play in the snow with the kids or to get on the snowmobile with friends..Wear this and don't forget your long johns!
